Nepalese students in Bangladesh
The world was
doing fine, so were the Students who came from Nepal to Bangladesh.
Suddenly, in
January 2020, the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in China started
progressively spreading to different nations with WHO declaring its Public
Health Emergency of international concern. Bangladesh, which has become one of
the education hubs of South Asia these days could not remain untouched from the
virus which leads Students who came with a bag brimming of big dreams and
aspirations to become a doctor in Bangladesh stranded.
With the increasing chaos and dread of the
virus various things started whirling in the mind of the Students, like whether
they should fly back to Nepal or not. They figured it would be difficult to
return to the country where they had gone to make their ambitions come true if
they left in the hustle. Where the students were still in dilemma and the world
was attempting to perceive how to fight with the virus. The virus took a
monstrous form and almost all the countries halted their international flights
to control the virus from spreading. Because of the cancelation of the
international flights around 800 Nepalese students got stuck in Bangladesh.
Since then those students are trying to reach out Government of Nepal and
appealing for help to return home. They even tried reaching out through the
popular TV show ‘Sida Kura Janta Sanga’by Rabi Lamichane, did digital fasting
with the only hope of getting support from Government to fly back home said
Santosh Shah, who is among the student stuck in Bangladesh.
Later, after
reaching out Nepal Government the Students were made to fill various
Forms online
which ended up being a bogus confirmation and false assurance. Further, Mr.
Shahalso expressed that students would have appreciated if the Government could
have managed just to rescue the Nepalese who are working in the Gulf Countries
because the number of Nepalese who have reached the point of death due to the
virus are increasing day by day and reading such news is making morale of the
Students low. Students from Bangladesh has made a humble request to the
Government to rescue the Nepalese in Golf Countries first as the scenario there
is getting worse and rescue them in second priority.
Further, they
stated that countries like India, Bhutan have already rescued their citizens
Who were their
classmates and roommates but they are still forced to be there and could not
feel the warmth of the nation. At this time, where things are uncertain
Students just want to come back home and feel the presence and warmth of the
Mother Land. They also mentioned that they will be more than satisfied to serve
their nation during this pandemic whenever given an opportunity and are ready
to fight the battle against the virus as most of them already have the license
and some of them are in intern position and likewise requested Government that
they don’t want to die in a foreign land.
